Widbrook Grange Wedding Photography - Laura and Mike

Laura and Mike's September wedding at Widbrook Grange near Bradford on Avon was filled with beautiful personal touches and genuine emotion – even if the weather had other ideas!

The day started with a lovely surprise. Laura wanted some photos of their wedding car at a spot in their village where old-style petrol pumps make a popular backdrop for car enthusiasts. Her dad drove the car up, we parked it in front of the pumps, and between us we juggled the bridal bouquet to create some special shots for Mike.

From there I headed to Widbrook Grange to capture details and guests arriving – including their very important ring bearer, their dog! Mike welcomed everyone outside the main house before heading to the Manvers Suite for the ceremony.

Unfortunately the weather turned just as Laura arrived, which meant umbrellas came out and didn't really go back down. But the rain didn't dampen anyone's spirits – it was a beautiful, intimate, family-filled celebration.

Mike even shed a few tears as Laura walked down the aisle with her dad. The ceremony continued in a similarly emotional way with everyone so touched to watch them say their vows. There was comic relief when their dog was released to deliver the rings, racing down the aisle before wandering off to say hello to all the guests!

After the ceremony, guests braved the rain for a quick confetti run before heading back to the farmhouse for their drinks reception in the conservatory. It was a little cosy once everyone was inside, but the atmosphere was absolutely joyful.

I managed to sneak Laura and Mike away for a handful of photos, sheltering in doorways and then heading into the bar for some couples shots. The Widbrook Grange staff were amazing throughout, even helping rearrange furniture in the room next to the conservatory so we could take formal photos indoors.

Before long, guests headed in for the wedding breakfast. The place settings and favours had all been handmade, and the beautiful cake had been created by Laura's mum – such lovely personal touches.

I stayed just long enough to capture Laura and Mike cutting the cake and photograph the emotional, heartfelt speeches before saying my goodbyes and leaving them to their celebration.

Rain or shine, it was a day filled with love, laughter, and those little moments that make weddings so special.
