Priston Mill Wedding Photography - Ellie and Mike

Ellie and Mike’s wedding was a magical Lord of the Rings-Inspired celebration which took place at The Watermill, Priston Mill just on the outskirts of Bath.

From the very beginning, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a traditional wedding and I absolutely loved it! Think dried flower crowns, Doc Martens, green glitter tights, and a soundtrack pulled straight from Middle-earth.

The celebration started with their outdoor ceremony on the lawns in front of the Watermill. The Lord of the Rings theme was evidently apparent when Ellie made her entrance with her sister accompanied by music from the film’s score. I’m certain I heard a few entertained laughs coming from the gathered guests as they worked out what the music was!

The theme continued into the afternoon reception with all of the tables named after beloved characters. It took me a while to twig exactly why the tables were set out as they were. But once Ellie began her speech with:
"My dear Bagginses and Boffins, and my dear Tooks and Brandybucks…” it all became clear! When she reached the final table, their enthusiastic cry of “Proudfeet!” had everyone laughing - a true nod to Tolkien fans and a beautiful example of how Ellie and Mike made the day so personal and fun.

Ellie wore a beautiful dried flower headband and carried a bouquet to match. Her choice of sparkly green tights and trusty boots added a playful touch perfectly in line with the relaxed, joyful tone of the day. Mike looked equally brilliant in his waistcoat and matching footwear.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed the sunshine and the beautiful surroundings with more than a few of them heading over to the play area at the back of the venue. And that included Ellie and Mike too!

Priston Mill is always a great place to shoot a wedding but with the wisteria in bloom, the skies a perfect cloudless blue and the greenery looking particularly lush I was spoilt for choice for backdrops! During Ellie and Mike’s couples photo session we made the most of every opportunity.

Below you will find a small selection of the many, many photos I took! To view the full gallery, please ask Ellie or Mike.
