Milton Hill House Wedding Photography - Ellis and Richie
Ellis and Richie's October wedding at Milton Hill House was beautifully relaxed and filled with thoughtful personal touches.
Being a new venue for me, I decided to stay overnight to get my bearings – I'm so glad I did! The site is a bit of a rabbit warren, and it really helped to know where everything would be taking place. To put it in perspective, I clocked up 20,000 steps during the wedding day! Being on site early meant I even bumped into Steph from Venues Covered setting up the reception room on my way to breakfast – always lovely to catch up with fellow creatives.
When my coverage officially started, I headed to where Ellis was getting ready. It was a hive of activity with her mum, bridesmaids, and two hair and makeup artists all bustling about. I split my time between capturing Ellis's preparations and tracking down Richie for photos with his dad, son, and best man. Once guests started arriving, I joined them in the bar for some candid shots.
I was glad to find that Ellis had kept hold of the rings, which meant I could capture lovely detail shots of them alongside her bouquet and her amazing silver leopard-print shoes!
One particularly special moment was Ellis doing a "first look" with her son before the ceremony. It was far more emotional than any of us anticipated, but documenting those tears and that genuine moment was so very special.
Once guests were seated, Ellis and her entourage made their entrance with the youngest two bridesmaids being pulled in a specially made cart – such a brilliant idea! The ceremony was short but emotional, with Ellis's dad accompanying her down the aisle and their son delivering the rings.
Immediately afterwards, I gathered everyone outside for confetti (always tricky when it's cold!), then we headed back inside for a bird's-eye group photo. The guests were then directed to the library for welcome drinks – purple to match the colour theme, much to everyone's delight!
I whisked small groups away for formal photos while the remaining guests relaxed in the library with sunshine streaming through the windows. This also gave me time to capture details of the reception room and the brownie tower cake before everyone took their seats.
It was a very relaxed and beautiful day filled with family, friends, and those meaningful moments that make each wedding unique.
