Failand Village Hall, Bristol Wedding Photography - Hollin and Charlie

As seems to have become increasingly common with couples this year, Hollin and Charlie had actually attended their legal ceremony earlier that week and had asked me to come along and photograph their celebration which took place a couple of days later.

This meant that they were able to celebrate exactly as they wanted and had the freedom to include their own personal touches to the ceremony.

I arrived first to take some photos of Hollin’s final preparations with her bridesmaids at her parents house in Nailsea where I was greeted by the most colourful, fun bouquets I had ever seen! The bridesmaids dresses were also a unique ombre style which I loved! It was then a short drive onto Failand Village Hall where they had erected a marquee outside for their ceremony.

The great British weather attempted to dampen things with blustery showers throughout the afternoon but it was clear to see that the guests weren’t going to let it spoil proceedings. Every person who battled across from the car park with their umbrellas arrived with a huge smile on their face!

Once Hollin and her bridesmaids arrived there was a short pause to allow for a rain shower to pass by and then the ceremony got underway. It was officiated by a close friend of the family and included a lovely section about cheese and pineapple (I can’t remember the exact details but I remember that it was very poignant and humorous!). This was followed by the appearance of a golden pineapple and then, finally, by cheese and pinapple on sticks!

A drinks reception followed and the guests (particularly the many kids) made the most of the garden games that had been positioned on the lawn. The kids also seemed to have great fun weaving between all of the colourful ribbons and pompoms that festooned the trees - carefully positioned by Hollin, Charlie and their helpers in the days running up to their celebration.

The weather continued to be changeable throughout that afternoon (there was even a weather warning for wind in place!) but I’m happy to say that the rain mostly stayed away! People seemed to enjoy sitting in the marquee, chatting and catching up over a drink or two and nibbling on the sandwiches that were provided by the caterers.

Before too long it was time to head inside for the speeches and the wedding breakfast before we all headed back outside for dancing and partying in the marquee. All in all it was a colourful, vibrant and relaxed day which was full of love and happiness.

Below you will find a very small selection of my favourite photos from the day. To view the full gallery, please contact Hollin or Charlie.
