Bowood Hotel Wedding Photography - Michelle and Robert
Amazingly, Michelle and Robert’s wedding was my first official wedding of the year! Even more surprising was that they only booked me a few weeks prior to the wedding!
After speaking to Robert he informed me that it was to be a very intimate celebration. They had initially chosen not to have a photographer but, thanks to a recommendation from their florist - The Derry Hill Florist - they got in touch to see if I would be able to provide just a handful of hours of coverage. My response was, “of course”!
This is one of the reasons that I love offering bespoke packages - every wedding is unique and I want photography to be accessible to anyone who wants special occasions such as this documented.
On the day, I arrived at Bowood Hotel and Spa to find Bob checking on everything in the Kerry Suite. The ceremony had initially been due to take place outdoors but, due to the unpredictable weather, the ceremony was switched to be indoors at the last minute. That meant I was able to capture details of their wedding set-up, the flowers, gift table etc… before the guests started to arrive.
Soon the ceremony was upon us. As a surprise, the ceremony was preceded by an emotional audio clip of Michelle telling Bob exactly what he meant to her - it had a number of guests in tears before Michelle had even walked down the aisle! Their daughters and grandchildren walked down the aisle ahead of Michelle who was accompanied by her closest friend.
It was a short but emotional ceremony after which the guests retreated to the bar for drinks. The typical flow would have been to usher the guests out onto the terrace for confetti and group photos but the weather had other ideas. Thankfully we only had a short pause. After the confetti and a handful of group photos I was also able to convince Michelle and Bob to head out to the front of the venue for a few photos in front of the cottage before the rain showers returned.
The canapés were then served, more drinks were consumed and before too long they were welcomed into the reception room for their wedding breakfast. This is when I took my leave, allowing them to continue their celebrations with their friends and family.
