2025 - The Wedding Round-Up Post
It’s that time or year - a time to reflect and look back over the last 12 months.
I’ll start by saying that 2025 has been amazing. I’ve had some wonderful clients, visited some gorgeous venues and been involved in some beautiful celebrations. But in all honesty, 2025 was tough going at times - and I don’t think I’ve been alone. Many conversations I had with other wedding suppliers brought up similar feelings - the fact that 2025 felt quieter than normal (whatever normal is!).
I don’t mind telling you that I entered the year feeling a little apprehensive. My bookings were down compared to what they were at the same time the previous year and my tally of weddings that I’d photographed in 2024 was the fewest I’d shot since 2020 (you know, that infamous year where weddings weren’t legally allowed to take place for some reason!).
But what quickly became apparent was that many couples were choosing smaller weddings. That meant they were leaving it later to book their suppliers. It didn’t hurt that, because my diary wasn’t full, I still had a number of prime dates available. I was also able to pick up a couple of referrals from other photographers who were already booked up. In fact, just under half of the weddings I shot in 2025 were also booked during 2025. The quickest turnaround this year - from a couple returning their booking form to me shooting their wedding - was just 48 hours!
On a positive note I’m ending the year having shot 4 more weddings than I did in 2024. Bookings in general have also increased - I’m excited to report that I secured 6 more bookings in 2025 than I did in 2024, thanks primarily to a number of last minute (<100 days) bookings.
A note on Venues
It’s inevitable that I often visit the same venues time and time again but, amazingly, new venues made up one third of the weddings I photographed this year!
New venues for me included Clearwell Castle (somewhere I’ve wanted to visit for a long time!), Hillfields Farm (a wonderful hidden gem) and Pennard House (definitely making it onto the list of my all time favourite venues). I even had the privilege of photographing a beautifully intimate ceremony at Avebury stone circle.
I’ve loved being able to tick a few additional local venues off the list but it always amazes me that, no matter how many weddings I shoot, I always seem to receive enquiries for venues that I haven’t shot at yet. I already have four new venues included in my bookings for 2026 including a cinema, a farm and a brewery - I can’t wait to visit them and see what photographic opportunities they offer!
Show me the stats!
You know I can’t resist a statistic so here’s an overview of how my year in weddings has looked in numbers:
26 weddings
1166 miles driven
8 new venues
5 registry offices
5 churches
3 marquees
2 dogs as ring bearers
2 Unicorns
1 Donkey
1 guard of honour
2025 in Photos
Anyway, enough waffling! Below you will find a gallery containing a small selection of my favourite images from the year but, as always, you can find most of my recent weddings in the blog archive if you want to see (and read) more.
If you’ve made it to the end then a huge well done! I never really know if others find these posts interesting or not - I write them simply because it makes me happy to look back over the past 12 months and relive all of the beautiful celebrations that I’ve been lucky enough to document. Thank you 2025 - let’s see what 2026 has in store!
